September, 2004 (Respect mother)

Dear Dads,

Have you ever been with people when one of their children, or worse yet your own child, was rude or disrespectful to their mother? It sure can ruin the time together and worse yet it is very displeasing to the Lord.

The key point here for dads is:
Fathers need to require their children to always be respectful to their mother.

Appropriate Bible verses:
Ephesians 6:1-2 "Children·honor your...mother".

Ephesians 6:3 then points out so that "it may go well" with our children, which is something we certainly all want. An important related issue is to make sure we are always honoring our wife. Our children model themselves after us in so many ways. Scary prediction: If we don't teach our sons to honor their mother, they will not treat their eventual wife like they should. They will reap what we have let them sow.

If you have not been requiring proper respect from your children, please pray for wisdom, apologize to your family, and start today.
